The Training Pool Trainers

The five trainers associated with the Training Pool are all self-employed, each opeerating their own businesses in the fields of business consultancy and training delivery.  Although the trainers ghave a preference for working in the Highland area , both individually and collectively, they have extensive experience of developing and delivering various types of training programmes for major organisations across Scotland and in some instances elsewhere in the United Kingdom.  A short resume of each trainer is included below.

 Lesley Jones
Lesley has spent over two decades running successful Management Development Programmes, including accredited courses on behalf of the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM).  She has a highly developed knowledge of Management and organisational development, her underpinning philosophy centres on improving the effectiveness of the individual which translates through to that of their organisation.  Lesley has extensive professional qualifications associated with Training & Development and is a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Karen MacRae
Karen started her initial career as a teacher prior to moving into industry where she worked in a variety of roles, which culminated in her becoming the Managing Director of two successful export businesses.  She then succumed to the attraction of working for herself and started her own management consultancy which included the provision of training in a variety of topics, primarily associated with the financial and managerial aspects of operating a business.  She provides financial and managerial support  for a number of small businesses on Skye including the European Forum on Nature and Pastoralism and is joining their Board in September 2011.  She has also been a director of the Isle of Skye Renewables Company since its inception in 2008.

John Middlewick
John was initially a secondry school teacher a post he held for over four years.  He then joined the Royal Air Force where he served for eighteen years.  For a large part of his service he was involved in the training of airmen, aircrew and officer cadets in all aspects of leadership, management, teamwork and land survival.  When he left the Service he woirked as a Training Manager before deciding to becomne self-employed as a consultant business advisor and trainer.  As part of his work as a business advisor he has assisted a number of organisations to achieve Investors in People recognition and eventually became an IIP Assessor.

 

 

 Ray Knox
Ray has amassed over fifteen years of senior management experience in various organisations in the private, public and third sectors.  He has worked as an independent consultant since 2004 and has used his extensive experience to improve the performance of a variety of organisations, a large number of which he has retained on a long-term basis.  He delivers a wide range of training courses on a variety of topics, primarily focusing on individual and organisational development.  Ray is also qualified to deliver accredited training courses on behalf of the Institute of Leadership and Management.

John McKintosh
John has amassed considerable managerial experience through working in the oil and gas fabrication industry before specialising in Human Resources (HR) and Industrial Relations.  He started his own consultancy business over ten years ago and has worked with numerous Clients using his acquired business skills to assist them enhance overall performance and address various organisational issues.  Several years ago his work also naturally evolved into the delivery of training, mainly on HR, Employment Rights and organisational and personal development related subjects. He is currently assisting a number of businesses install bespoke Quality Management Systems as a means of improving organisational performance.  He has recently taken over the administration of the Training Pool.
